This section will tell you a little bit about Greenwich Breastfeeding Strategy and what it sets out to do.
Greenwich Breastfeeding Strategy is a partnership between the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, NHS Greenwich and Greenwich Community Health Services, Greenwich Council and the University of Greenwich. The aim of this partnership is to increase breastfeeding rates in Greenwich as part of improving the health and well being for all mothers and children and in particular for those living in communities less likely to breastfeed.
Creating a ‘Baby Friendly ‘Greenwich
Our vision is to create a ‘Baby Friendly ‘Greenwich where:
- Mums get the best quality information and support from midwifery, health visiting and GP services to prepare themselves and their families antenatally and to breastfeed successfully
- There is a first class community breastfeeding programme for all mums, especially those in communities who do not traditionally breastfeed
- Everyone in Greenwich is aware of the importance of breastfeeding and supports their partners, friends, and family members to breastfeed
- Mums feel safe to breastfeed wherever they need when out and about in the Borough
