Support with Breastfeeding

You can find out more about feeding and caring for your baby by talking to your midwife, health visitor or a breastfeeding advocate at a local breastfeeding drop-in group. Find out how to contact them below

Greenwich breastfeeding drop-ins offer support and up-to-date information for all pregnant and breastfeeding mothers and their families.

Our trained breastfeeding advocates are on hand to help prepare you for getting off to a good start with breastfeeding and to provide help and support after your baby is born.

When you are pregnant The drop-in groups offer a relaxed and sociable place to talk to other mothers about their breastfeeding experience. Advocates are also happy to talk about other longer term matters such as returning to work.

All the drop-ins are free and held in Children's Centres across the borough every weekday.

Visit the Drop-in Groups page for a list of drop-ins and more information.

When you meet with your midwife for the first time they will talk with you about why breastfeeding is important.

They will also give you a leaflet called 'Off to the Best Start'.

You can talk to your midwife about breastfeeding at any point during your pregnancy, but when you are around 28 weeks pregnant, they will discuss breastfeeding with you in more detail. Find your Midwifery Team's details here

Your midwifery team will also run Antenatal classes for you in late pregnancy. These classes give information on all aspects of childbirth and parenting. Contact your team for information about booking a place.
